TIMES TUBAN, JAKARTATangah Island of Pariaman in West Sumatra will be turned into an enchanting tourism destination as stated by the Mayor of Pariaman, Dr. H. Genius Umar, S.Sos, M.Si. “Tangah Island has a huge potential to become the magnet of tourists,” he stated.

On Sunday, 13 June 2021, the authorities put the plans into action. Genius Umar and the Head of Tourism and Culture Department of Pariaman, Dwi Marhen Yono, made an observation in Tangah Island. The island, which covers around 6 hectares, is proven to be a potential tourism destination.

Tangah Island has a pristine beach with an eye-pleasing panoramic view. It has many hibiscus trees and palm trees in its middle part.

“We expect that the potentials of Pariaman will be able to speed up the economic recovery after the pandemic,” said Genius Umar.

The Head of Tourism and Culture Department of Pariaman, Dwi Marhen Yono, S.Stp, M.Si, showed his optimism in introducing the exotic Tangah Island as the new tourism attraction in the area called as The Sunset City of Indonesia.

As a follow-up to the plan, the Government of Pariaman, through the Tourism and Culture Department of Pariaman, will initiate an arrangement in Tangah Island to improve and develop the island to be more attractive to tourists.

To speed up the economic recovery after the pandemic, the Government of Pariaman keeps supporting the local tourism, starting from launching Pariaman Festival 2021, an event that involves 45 festivals with the theme of culture, art and sport tourism throughout 2021.

By improving the potential of Tangah Island of Pariaman, it is expected that it will help Pariaman to be the new favorite tourism attraction for both national and international tourists. (*)
